Lecture: "Knowing Insects, Controlling Insects, and Eating Insects"

Some insects are pests that threaten human food and health. On the other hand, some insects contribute to agriculture, industry, and environmental conservation. Furthermore, some insects are the subject of entertainment and art, such as collecting, appreciating, and creating. In the first half of this lecture, we will focus on mites, which are extremely small among insects, and introduce their sophisticated physiology and ecology and the latest research on pest management. In the second half, we will introduce the appeal of edible insects, which may become one of the delicious, fun, healthy, and environmentally friendly food ingredients, and research on their production.
